MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The awards continue to roll in for the Memphis Tiger women's soccer team with Anna Hauer, Haylee Spray and Momo Nakao earning honors this week.
Hauer, a freshman from Calgary, Alberta, was named the AAC's Rookie of the Week for the second-consecutive week after netting the game-winning goal in the team's 1-0 win over East Carolina on Wednesday night – her third goal in two games. Hauer's shot, which came as a rocket from outside the box, would get picked up by SportsCenter as their number two best play on Oct. 12.
This is the second-career AAC Weekly Award honor for Hauer.
Spray, a senior from Allen, Texas, picked up the AAC's Defensive Player of the Week award after she helped lead a Tiger backline to their third-consecutive shutout after back-to-back wins over East Carolina and Charlotte last week. Spray and crew allowed just seven shots on-goal in 180 minutes of work.
This is the second AAC Weekly Award for Spray this season and the 11th of her career.
Nakao, a junior out of Inzai City, Chiba, Japan, netted her fifth goal of the season when she headed in the game-winning goal in the team's 1-0 victory over Charlotte on Sunday. With the goal, Nakao is now tied for third on the team in total goals scored this season.
This is the second AAC Weekly Award nod for Nakao this season and the fourth of her career.
