Cross Country Heads to Louisville Classic
Sep 30, 2022 | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – This weekend marks the halfway point for University of Memphis harriers, as they travel to Louisville Ky. To compete in the Louisville Cross Country Classic.
The 21st annual meet is set to begin Saturday morning at E.P Tom Sawyer State Park. The men's 8k kicks off the day at 9:30 a.m., and the women will follow in the 5k at 10:15.
Both the men and the women's team are racing in the gold division, which is the most competitive group of the meet. Last year in Louisville, Zachary Wyatt and Chloe Figgins paced the team, both finishing with PR performances.
Two weeks ago at the North Alabama showcase, the men and women finished with a combined six new personal bests and two top-25 finishes.
"Both teams are excited to compete at the Louisville Cross Country Classic because in the past it is one of the more competitive meets in the Midwest," said cross country coach Ken Frenette. "It hosts a number of nationally and regionally ranked teams, and this is an opportunity for both teams to build upon what the accomplished at the Alabama Showcase two weeks ago."
