Cruz Tabbed as Rookie of the Week, Rodrigues dos Santos Named to Honor Roll

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the second week in a row, Alberto Cruz and Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos have found themselves among the list of American Athletic Conference Weekly Awards.
Cruz, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, netted two goals last week with both serving as the game-winning goal over Central Arkansas and #23 UCF. Cruz would find the back of the net in the 89' against UCA to put Memphis on top after trailing by as much as three goals earlier in the match.
Against, the #23 Knights, Cruz would go one-on-one with UCF goalkeeper, Juanvi Munoz, on a penalty kick in the 71'. Cruz would connect and give Memphis the 3-2 lead, and eventual win.
This is the second Rookie of the Week award for Cruz this season and the second for his career.
Rodrigues dos Santos, a sophomore from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, scored two goals in the team's come from behind win over Central Arkansas, including an insurance goal with 14 seconds left in the match, while also assisting on the equalizer goal in the team's 3-2 win over #23 UCF.
This is the second Weekly Honor Roll award for Rodrigues dos Santos this season and the second for his career.
Memphis (5-1-1, 2-0 AAC) will be back in action tomorrow evening when they take on the Cougars of SIUE. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Edwardsville, Ill. Coverage of the match can be found on ESPN+.
