Cross Country Travels to North Alabama Showcase

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the second meet of the season, University of Memphis men's and women's cross country will compete in the North Alabama Showcase Friday morning.
Hosted at the John Hunt Cross Country Park in Huntsville Ala., the men's 8k will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the women's 5k will kick off at 8:15.
Two weeks ago at the season opener, the Tigers finished the Auto City Memphis Twilight Classic with five top-10 finishes. Zachary Wyatt, Payton Gleason, Vincent Chenier and Hudson Hurst led the men's team, all placing in the top 10. The men's team is now ranked ninth in NCAA's South Region going into this weekend.
Chloe Figgins was the frontrunner for the women at the season opener, placing second in the 5k.
"Both the men's and the women's teams are looking forward to the meet this Friday to build upon what they accomplished at Twilight," cross country coach Ken Frenette said. "We have had two weeks of training, so we are ready to get back out on the trails and test ourselves."
