Hill, Oladele Named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Honorees

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Two Memphis Tigers have been announced as Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars for the 2022 season. Christian Hill from the women's track & field team was named a fourth-team recipient while Kayode Oladele, a member of the Tiger football team, was named as a first-team honoree.
The Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Awards, sponsored by Diverse: Issues In Higher Education, honor students of color who have excelled in the classroom as well as on the athletic field. Scholars must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5, be at least a sophomore academically and demonstrate a commitment to community service and student leadership.
Hill, a native of Homewood, Ala., is a member of the women's track & field team where she competes in the long and triple jumps. She has dedicated over 190 hours of community service at the University of Memphis and has served as a representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during her time as a Tiger.
Hill is working towards a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Dietetics. She has been part of the Tiger 3.0 Club for nine semesters and has been named to the Dean's List six times.
Oladele, a native of Miami, Fla., is a member of the Memphis football team and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and has taken any opportunity possible to serve wherever he can. This past year, Oledele was part of Arise2Read, Read Across America, Youth Villages PE Take Over, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes and activity implementation for kids with intellectual disabilities at the Madonna Learning Center in Germantown, Tenn.
Oladele has been a member of the Tiger 3.0 Club and a member of the Dean's List every semester for the past four years.
