Memphis Athletics Launches Official Name, Image and Likeness Marketplace
May 03, 2022 | General
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Athletics has released its Official Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) Marketplace, powered by its partner and industry-leader Opendorse, which will help maximize NIL support for its student-athletes.
Memphis is among the first programs nationwide to provide a single marketplace to send supporters to access student-athletes and offer compliant opportunities. Now, Memphis fans, brands, sponsors and donors can browse, book, pitch and pay any Memphis student-athlete for NIL activities in one compliant platform, built specifically for the athletes' needs.
"As the NIL era of college athletics continues to evolve, we are pleased to have a partner in Opendorse that can help us evolve and innovate alongside," Memphis Student-Athlete Branding & Image Coordinator Bridget Perine said. "The official Memphis Tigers NIL Marketplace will make it even easier to bring the community and student-athletes together to take advantage of new opportunities to help both parties."
"The University of Memphis has embraced NIL changes in college athletics as well as any program nationwide," said Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence. "By launching this marketplace, Memphis student-athletes will be in position to maximize their opportunity with NIL by more easily connecting with the Memphis fanbase and community. I'm proud to help these athletes and those who want to support them with the marketplace technology trusted by the best in the game."
Memphis continues to provide best-in-class resources to its student-athletes as part of its MaximUM program, which is designed to deliver comprehensive education and resources to get the "maximum" out of their brands in the NIL era. Unique to Memphis is a series of robust partnerships with the University of Memphis' Crews Center for Entrepreneurship, Fogelman College of Business & Economics, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and the Kemmons Wilson Sport Management programs to assist with education and implementation.
Student-athletes will have access to classes, seminars and resources within these units to help gain a full understanding of the dynamic possibilities both while in college and afterwards in their professional lives.

In late March, a group of University of Memphis supporters announced the creation of 901 Fund, a charitable organization founded to drive awareness of charities with ties to the Memphis region and deepen the connection between the City of Memphis and Tiger student-athletes. 901 Fund will present Memphis student-athletes with the opportunity to participate in a series of NIL engagements to promote local charities, which will be designed to drive awareness of worthy causes, attendance to specific events and directly raise funds on behalf of the charities.
The 901 Fund is an official sponsor of Memphis Athletics reaching Tiger fans through LEARFIELD's local Tiger Sports Properties. For more information and to support Memphis student-athletes and local charities, visit www.901Fund.org.
Last week, Opendorse and LEARFIELD announced a strategic relationship to streamline access to NIL opportunities for student-athletes as they engage with their schools' corporate brand sponsors. Memphis works exclusively with multimedia rights holder LEARFIELD, which brings together solutions for supporting brands through its relationship with Opendorse, the LEARFIELD Allied™ program and overall support for the athletic department.
