Monaghan Inks Four New Faces for 2022 Season

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Head women's soccer coach Brooks Monaghan and staff is excited to announce the signing of four more additions for the 2022 season in Briana Henry, Kaylie Bierman, Lilly Huber and Eef Kerkhof.
"We are thrilled to be adding these four young ladies to our team this fall," said Monaghan. "As a group, they bring different skills and abilities that should make us better in certain areas of the game."
Briana Henry | Forward | Hamilton, Ontario | St. Jean de Brefeuf | Burlington Force

Henry, a forward from Hamilton, Ontario, comes to Memphis from St. Jean de Brefeuf where she was an avid soccer and track & field athlete. Henry would help lead her Burlington Force team to a 2021 Championship under the direction of Casey Downey.
Why Memphis for Henry:
"I chose Memphis because it has a very competitive soccer program that plays at a very high level which will help me continue to develop my soccer skills significantly."
Kaylie Bierman | Goalkeeper | Grovetown, Georgia | Grovetown High School | UNC-Wilmington

Bierman, a goalkeeper from Grovetown, Ga., comes to Memphis after spending last season at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and helping the Seahawks to a Colonial Athletic Association Regular Season Championship. Bierman recorded 60 saves and five shutouts in 16 starts as a true freshman. She was named to the TopDrawerSoccer Mid-Season Top-100 Freshman List, was ranked second in the CAA and 20th in Division I with a .845 save percentage and was also one of the top goalkeepers in the nation with a .082 goals-against average that ranked her second in the CAA and 45th overall.
Along with national honors, Bierman broke the UNCW goals-against average record and was named as the CAA's Rookie of the Week twice. She was also named to the 2021 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association's All-State Women's Soccer Team.
Prior to her collegiate start with the Seahawks, Bierman prepped at Grovetown High School where she was a two-sport athlete in soccer and flag football. She helped her soccer team to a Class 6A Elite Eight in her freshman and senior seasons and was named the Region Player of the Year in 2021. She was also named as an Honorable Mention honoree and MVP in 2018, First Team All-Region in her sophomore season and was a captain in her junior and senior years.

" I chose the University of Memphis because I felt a connection with the coaching staff before I even met them. I felt like I could be myself and that the team was a family that I wanted to be a part of. I'm excited to compete at such a high level and, as a goalkeeper with dreams of playing professionally, I'm excited to be trained and mentored by coaches and keepers who have traveled that road."
Lilly Huber | Midfield | Augsburg, Germany | FC Bayern Munich | University of Kentucky

Huber, a native of Augsburg, Germany, comes to Memphis after playing her freshman season at the University of Kentucky. The midfielder played in 16 games for the Wildcats while making 14 starts and notching over 1,200 minutes played in 2021.
Prior to her collegiate start in Lexington, Huber played three seasons with FC Bayern Munich under the direction of Nathalie Bischoff. In 42 games with FC Bayern Munich, Huber scored three goals and helped her team to a 7-2-4 finish in 2020. Huber was also a participant with the German National Team's U17 and U19 training camps.

" I had some great chats with Coach Monaghan, and I am excited to be part of this strong program. I will be joining a highly competitive team that pushes each other to have successful seasons year after year. Memphis will allow me to play at a high level and compete against other quality teams."
Eef Kerkhof | Forward/Midfield | Mills, Netherlands | Fontys Economische Hogeschool Tilburg | SC Heerenveen

Kerkhof, a native of Mills, Netherlands, comes to Memphis as a graduate student after playing the last three seasons with SC Heerenveen. The Dutch athlete made 22 starts in 25 games for her team last season in the highest level of soccer in the Netherlands.
Why Memphis for Kerkhof:
" The first meeting with Coach Monaghan was very informative and felt familiar. The whole coaching and extended staff were very helpful in my process. In addition, Memphis plays soccer at a very high level. I am really looking forward to getting my master's degree as a Tiger!"
"I am looking forward to seeing how quickly that each of them can transition into our atmosphere here at Memphis. Hopefully that process is a quick one and the group can make an impact right away," said Monaghan.
