Tigers Head to Georgia for Valspar Augusta Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's golf team will head to Augusta, Ga. to compete in the Valspar Augusta Invitational at the Forest Hill Golf Course this weekend. The two-day tournament gets started on Saturday, March 12 and runs through Sunday, March 13. Live scoring for the event can be found at GoTigersGo.com.
"We are proud of the way they handled the brutal weather at our last event," assistant coach Jennifer Jordan said. "They played solid on the final day and I believe they are truly ready to challenge themselves with this field at Augusta State."
The 56-hole tournament will be played on the par 72, 6,183-yard course with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. CT on Saturday and a 9:00 a.m. CT shotgun start on Sunday. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday and the final round on Sunday.
The 16-team field for the Valspar Augusta Invitational includes Memphis, Augusta, No. 9-ranked Alabama, Coastal Carolina, No. 14 Florida State, No. 45 Furman, Georgia Southern, No. 41 Miami, Minnesota, No. 25 Ole Miss, No. 38 Purdue, San Diego State, No. 4 South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee and No. 23 Virginia Tech.
Last time out, junior Brooke Veres led the Tigers' effort at the Trinity Forest Invitational, tying for 29th overall with a score of 229 (+13). As a team, Memphis placed 12th out of 16 teams with a total of 928 (+64).
