Riddle named AAC Male Field Athlete of the Week

IRVING, Texas – University of Memphis track and field athlete Cole Riddle has been named the American Athletic Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Riddle, a senior from Surprise, Ariz., opened the season and his career as a Tiger with a first-place pole vault win at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Jan. 29. He cleared 5.36m (17-7.0), which ties him for first in the conference and ranks him 14th in the nation.
A recent transfer from Arizona State University, Riddle's top indoor mark came from the 2020 New Mexico Team Open (5.45m, 17-10.5). Before coming to Memphis, he was a two-time USA Junior team member and made the U.S. team in 2019.
"I was really excited to see Cole jump for us, and he had an excellent start," said head coach Kevin Robinson. "He has proven to be a tremendous addition to the program."
Up next, Riddle with travel with the men's and women's track and field teams to Birmingham to compete in the South Alabama Invitational Sunday.
