Twenty-One Memphis Student-Athletes to Graduate Sunday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Twenty-one Memphis Tiger student-athletes representing nine sport programs are scheduled to graduate Sunday during fall commencement ceremonies at FedExForum. Seven of the student-athletes are graduating with honors.

The 21 graduating student-athletes completed 18 different majors. Degrees to be conferred include civil engineering, organizational leadership, marketing management, biology and criminal justice, among others.
After fall semester grades were finalized, the athletic department boasted a cumulative grade point average of 3.25, its second-highest non-COVID GPA in school history. A record 65 student-athletes earned a spot in the 4.0 GPA Club in the fall semester.
Additionally, the men's and women's tennis teams had the highest fall 2022 GPAs among all sport programs at 3.76 and 3.81, respectively.

"We are extremely proud of these student-athletes who will be graduating this weekend," University of Memphis Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Laird Veatch said. "This group of student-athletes has dedicated themselves to academic excellence in addition to excelling competitively, and our Center for Athletic Academic Success has done a fantastic job assisting them in reaching the ultimate goal of a college degree."

In the NCAA's Graduation Success Rate report for the most recent 2015 cohort (2012-15), a calculation of the rate at which student-athletes graduated within six years, Memphis' GSR was 93 percent, which is above the Division I average of 89 percent. Six Memphis teams led or tied the lead for the highest GSR in the American Athletic Conference amongst their sport.
