Memphis wasted no time gaining a lead, getting a putback lay-up from Destiny Thomas with 1:53 left in the first quarter to take a 15-8 lead. Thomas would complete an -and one while Jamirah Shutes and Maddie Griggs scored on back-to-back possessions to give the Tigers the 20-8 lead.
It was all Memphis in the second scoring – holding the Cougars to just eight points once again while the Tigers went on to score 30 points in the 10-minute period.

The Tigers would take the 50-16 lead into the halftime break.
SIUE came out of the break hot, going on a 7-0 run to cut their deficit to 27. Brooks and Thomas would break the Cougars scoring run with consecutive field goals, but Destine Duckworth and Taylor Goss would get buckets just before the end of the quarter to make it a 68-39 game.
A 14-0 run to open the fourth quarter, and eight points from Tanyuel Welch, would be the fire the Tigers needed to cruise to their 94-49 win.
