Tigers Wrap Up Fall Campaign with Dominant Weekend at Bonita Bay Classic

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Memphis men's tennis made a strong statement across three days of the Bonita Bay Classic, combining to go 24-3 between doubles and singles action against a pair of power five programs and Florida Gulf Coast to wrap up its fall campaign.
Pablo Alemany and Pau Fanlo each capped a 6-0 weekend with three doubles and three singles wins against Virginia Tech, Nebraska and FGCU, while Juan Zabala and Harry Rock each finished 5-0.
Alemany's event was highlighted by a pair of ranked wins. He swept No. 55 Ryan Fishback of Virginia Tech 6-2, 6-4 on day one before disposing of FGCU's No. 123 Magnus Johnson 6-4, 6-2 on Sunday.
The Tigers went 7-1 on the weekend as a team in doubles and 17-2 in singles. Conor Gannon came from behind to close out FGCU's Eric Oncins 6-7(4), 6-3, 10-8 on Sunday to complete a 4-1 weekend.
"What a fantastic way for the guys to finish the fall season against three strong teams," head coach Paul Goebel said. "For the guys to only lose three matches shows the progress we have made. Our team has been working hard all semester and it was great to see them perform so well. I feel this weekend has only fired us up even more for the spring semester and we can't wait for January."
