Gleason Named Cross Country USTFCCCA All-Academic

NEW ORLEANS, La. – University of Memphis cross country athlete Payton Gleason was announced as one of the Division I All-Academic honorees by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) last week.
To qualify for All-Academic honors, individuals must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 or 10 percent at the NCAA Regional Champioships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
Gleason is majoring in physical education/teacher education and is also working toward obtaining an accounting minor. His academic performance helped bring the men's team to an overall 3.645 GPA, giving them the ninth spot in 150 programs that qualified.
Most recently in cross country, Gleason set a new personal best for the 10k at the NCAA South Regional in November, earning him All Region honors. He is currently competing in distance events in the indoor track and field season.
