Track and Field Picks Up Six Top-Five Finishes at Vanderbilt

NASVHILLE, Tenn. – University of Memphis track and field rounded out their first meet of the season with 16 top-ten performances Saturday.
The two-day meet began Friday at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility and concluded Saturday evening.
DeeNia McMiller, a 2021 All-American honoree, came home with two of the top-five finishes, placing fourth in the women's weight throw (21.70m) and fifth in shot put (15.31m). These two performances place her in second and third in the American Athletic Conference in those events, respectively.
Junior Solstice Saliba grabbed the silver in the women's 5000m run with a time of 17:54.98.
The men also saw success in field events with Robert Watson placing fourth in the weight throw (18.88m), followed in the top-ten by Parker Evans (seventh, 17.86m).
Next up, the Tigers will travel to Louisville Saturday to start the stretch of back-to-back meet weekends until the American Athletic Conference Championship at the end of February.
