NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Emanuel Santos brought the Tigers within a goal in the final seven minutes of the match, but the 23rd-ranked Lipscomb Bisons held on to defeat Memphis, 2-1, Friday night in Nashville, Tenn.

The Tigers are 0-2-1 through three games on their season-opening six-match road trip. The Bisons improve to 3-0-0 to start the season, including wins at UCLA and San Diego.

KEY MOMENTS

Memphis weathered the Lipscomb attack for much of the first half, with Parker Lackland making four saves and facing 10 shots in the first 40-plus minutes.
The Bisons broke through in the 44th minute when Killian Byrne found the back of the net off a pass across the front of the box from Hayes Wood.
The Tigers had chances 10 minutes into the second half, firing three shots sandwiching a corner kick, but could not score.
Gabriel Christensen hit the top woodwork with the potential equalizer in the 75th minute, and Lipscomb went down and countered with its second goal three minutes later.
Memphis kept pushing and had three corner kicks in the 83rd minute, which led to a Santos goal in the 84th minute off an assist from Peter Chang.

Santos scored for the second time this season (at Ohio State, 8/27)
Lackland made his second start of the season after the season opener at Ohio State.
The Tigers had 12 shots and seven corner kicks in the contest, and Lipscomb fired off 20 shots with eight on-frame.
Memphis still leads the all-time series with the Bisons, 8-3.

The Tigers' road trip continues Monday at Saint Louis at 7 p.m.
