Tigers Unlucky in 1-0 Defeat to No. 8 Tulsa

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Three Memphis Tiger shots hit the frame of the goal in the match, and No. 8 Tulsa converted a penalty kick in the 22nd minute en route to a 1-0 win Friday night in Memphis, Tenn.

The Golden Hurricane improve to 7-0-0 and 2-0-0 in the American Athletic Conference. Memphis is now 1-6-1 overall and 0-2-0 in conference action.

- Memphis' Gabriel Christensen had two great chances off the bat in the 4th minute, firing one off the post and sailing the rebound try just high.
- Tulsa's Henry Sach scored off a penalty kick in the 22nd minute to open the scoring.
- The woodwork was not the Tigers' friend again in the 49th minute, with Emanuel Santos denied by the left post on a header.
- Toby McCallum ripped a curving 30-yarder in the 76th minute, but the post once again denied the Tigers the equalizer.
- Entering the match, Tulsa had scored 10 goals in its last two games.
- Christensen, McCallum and Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos each fired off two shots in the contest.
- Colin Welsh made five saves in between the pipes for Memphis.
- The Tigers travel to Temple Wednesday at 6 p.m. CT and UCF next Sunday, Oct. 3, before returning to town to play SMU (Oct. 9).
