Aug 24, 2021 | General
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Athletics and Action News 5, Memphis' NBC affiliate, have expanded their partnership for the 2021-22 athletic season.
Â
In addition to producing approximately 50 Tiger games scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN+ as part of the American Athletic Conference's television package, Action News 5 is the new home for the weekly Ryan Silverfield, Penny Hardaway and Katrina Merriweather television shows.
Â
The ESPN+ slate of games began Sunday when the Tiger women's soccer team hosted Ole Miss, and the Silverfield television show debuts Sunday at 10:30 p.m. During NFL season, the Silverfield show will air after the conclusion of that week's primetime game. Details on the Hardaway and Merriweather shows will be announced closer to basketball season.
Â
"It is shaping up to be a great year of Tiger action, and we are pleased that Action News 5 shares our vision of showcasing our programs and our student-athletes in as many ways as possible," Memphis Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Laird Veatch said. "Fans can look forward to a year of exciting content with this local partnership."
Â
"We are thrilled to be expanding our partnership with Memphis Athletics," said Jonathan Mitchell, Vice President and General Manager of Action News 5. "Our team at Action News 5 is excited to give Tiger fans a unique look inside each program through highly produced and entertaining shows."
Â
