TAMPA, Fla. – Emanuel Santos scored the game-winner off a corner kick with just minutes left in the match, his second goal of the night, to power the Memphis Tigers to a 2-1, double-overtime win at USF Friday night in Tampa, Fla.
The Tigers (2-6) took a corner kick, their 10th of the match, with about two-and-a-half minutes remaining in the second overtime period, and Santos punched it home to complete the comeback.
Santos also tied the match in the 70th minute off an assist by Ntezey Swalita.
USF (4-5) opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, with Shion Soga putting one in the back of the net.
The Tigers' offense pushed the tempo most of the night, recording 19 shots with nine on-goal. Memphis had 10 corner kicks in the game.
Parker Lackland played all 108 minutes in goal for Memphis and made five saves.
The triumph comes after a double-overtime loss in Memphis' last match, against Tulsa on March 21. The two goals Friday night match a season high for the Tigers.
The Tigers wrap up the regular season next week with a pair of home games, hosting Temple Tuesday at noon and UCF Friday at 7 p.m.
