MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis men's soccer begins the second half of its schedule with a back-to-back against Tulsa on the road in Hurricane Stadium Wednesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. The Tigers will play host to the Golden Hurricane in a return game on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
Tulsa (2-1-1), which will be playing its second consecutive home game, is currently second in the American Athletic Conference with a .625 winning percentage after a scoreless double-overtime draw against Temple last Saturday. The Golden Hurricane had a 22-4 lead in shots, including a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal. Tulsa led 10-3 in corner kicks.
Memphis sophomore forward Michael Chappelear was named to the AAC Men's Soccer honor roll for his goal in a 3-1 loss to AAC-leading USF last Saturday. The USC Upstate transfer scored his first goal as a Tiger and the third of his career.
Memphis, which is 1-4 on the season, will return after its road game at Tulsa for two-straight home games at Park Avenue Campus on Sunday against Tulsa and vs. Temple on March 27. The Tigers won at Temple 2-1 in double overtime on Feb. 23.
In the win at Temple, Pennsylvania native Luke Kelly scored in the 109th minute with a 12-yard contested strike just inside the left post to give Memphis the dramatic victory.
