Tigers’ Michael Chappelear named to AAC Men’s Soccer Honor Roll

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis sophomore forward Michael Chappelear has been named to the AAC Men's Soccer honor roll, the conference announced Monday. It is the first league honor he has received.
Chappelear, from Bluffton, S.C., netted his first goal as a Tiger against USF Saturday, but it wasn't enough in a 3-1 loss. Chappelear, a transfer from USC Upstate, scored on his first shot of the second half in the 65th minute to slice the USF lead to 3-1.
It was Chappelear's third career goal as he scored two goals at USC Upstate in 2019. Chappelear accounted for three of the Tigers' eight second-half shots. His other two attempts just missed the net as his second was just wide, and the third was over the crossbar.
Memphis (1-4) plays at Tulsa (2-1-1) Wednesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ before returning home to face the Golden Hurricane on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. on the Park Avenue Campus.
Attendance at home games this season is limited to player and staff guests.
