Cross Country Runs in AAC Championships Saturday

AUGUSTA, Kan. – University of Memphis' Zachary Wyatt paced the men's cross country team and finished with a top-10 performance at the American Athletic Conference Championships Saturday morning.
 
Wyatt placed ninth in the men's 8K with a time of 24:42.17, followed closely by Payton Gleason, who placed 11th overall (24:45.97). Both earned All-Conference recognition.
 
The men placed fifth as a team with a score of 131 points.
 
Chablis Shreffler was the first to cross the finish line for the women in the 35th overall spot (22:42.63) for the 6K. She led the Memphis women's team to a 9th place standing.
 
Tulsa swept the team results for both the men and women; the men's team was led by first and second place finishers Patrick Dever (23:28.82) and Scott Beattie (23:34.76), and the women secured their second-straight championship with a total of 40 points.
 
Wichita State's Winny Koskei had the women's top performance with a time of 20:49.24. This was her third straight solo win, making her the most decorated cross country athlete in conference history.
