Tight match at No. 24 Arkansas does not break Memphis’ way

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Memphis women's tennis team battled No. 24 Arkansas to the final set of the final match, but the Razorbacks escaped with a 4-3 win Friday afternoon in Fayetteville, Ark.

Arkansas (8-0) took the doubles point and the first singles point, before Memphis' Sophie Abrams won from the first position, 6-4, 6-2. The Razorbacks took the No. 2 matchup to come one point from winning the match, before Alisha Reayer and Katherine Cao tied things up for the Tigers with wins.

All eyes then focused on Memphis' Aran Teixido Garcia and Arkansas' Tatum Rice as the contest-deciding showdown from the third position. Rice won the first set, 6-4, before Teixido Garcia knotted things up with a 6-3 win in the second set. But Rice took the third set, 6-3, to give the Razorbacks the victory.
