Monaghan Signs Eight for 2022 Season

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Head women's soccer coach Brooks Monaghan has announced the signing of eight new players for the 2022 season in Alice Santen, Shae Taylor, Izzy Monck, Ana Wasilewski, Sophia Goetz, Becca Stoeckmann, Sarah Bozeman and Berlyn Dibble.
"We are extremely excited about this group of young ladies who will be joining us soon," said Monaghan. "Not only is this group a very talented one, but it is a very versatile group. They are going to give themselves an opportunity to make an immediate impact, but most importantly, they will give immediate depth to our roster."
 
Alice Santen | Defender| Åkarp,Sweden | Malmö Idrottsgymnasium | FC Rosengård

 
Santen, a defender from Åkarp, Sweden, comes to Memphis after competing with FC Rosengård in the top-tier of the Swedish Women's 1st Division. She was also brought into the Swedish U19 National Team Camp in preparation for the European Championships before it was canceled due to COVID-19.
 
Why Memphis for Santen:
"The opportunity to earn a degree from the university along with the opportunity to play soccer at a high level is why I chose Memphis. Not only did the academics stand out, but the team atmosphere is what interested me. There are like minded players at Memphis that are as passionate about soccer as I am."
 
Shae Taylor | Midfielder | Kelowna, British Columbia | Burnaby Central Secondary School | Vancouver Whitecaps Girls Elite REX
 

Taylor, a midfielder from Kelowna, British Columbia, comes to Memphis after playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps Girls Elite Program which is renowned for consistently producing Canadian National Team Players. Taylor will become the third player on the Memphis roster to come to Memphis from Whitecaps joining Tanya Boychuk and Mya Jones.

"When I came to visit the players and coaches, they made me feel like I was a part of the team. They are a very family-oriented team and have a very competitive environment that I am very excited to be a part of."
 
 
Izzy Monck | Midfielder | Calgary, Alberta | John G. Diefenbaker High School | Calgary Foothills Soccer Club

Monck, a midfielder from Calgary, Alberta, comes to Memphis after playing with Calgary Foothills Soccer Club for the past eight seasons and with Calgary Foothills WFC-UWS this past season. Monck was part of championship teams that won the 2019 Canadian Youth National Tournament, the 2019 Outdoor Provincial, the 2020 Indoor Provincial, the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games and the 2021 SX Cup Vancouver-Premier Division. Monck was also named to the UWS All-West Conference Second Team in 2020.
Why Memphis for Monck:
I chose the University of Memphis because my ultimate goal is to get better every single day. I believe that the competitive atmosphere will propel and prepare me to play at the highest levels after university. There are standards of excellence both on and off the field and traditions of winning. I am confident that Coach Monaghan, the coaching staff, as well as the players are going to push me to reach my personal goals and program goals."
 
 
Ana Wasilewski | Defender | Collierville, Tennessee | Briarcrest Christian High School | Lady Lobos Rush Premier

Wasilewski, a native Memphian from Collierville, Tenn., comes to Memphis after four years at Briarcrest Christian School. She helped her team to a 17-1-1 record last season and was named All-Metro, All-Region and All-State. Wasilewski has played the past eight seasons with 04 Lady Lobos Rush Premier where she has been a captain for the last three years and was named to the Best XI Mid-South Conference. In 2021, they were the Tennessee State Champions.

Sophia Goetz | Forward | Fort Lauderdale, Florida | Archbishop McCarthy High School | FC Prime ECNL
 
Goetz, a forward from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., comes to Memphis after playing four years at Archbishop McCarthy where they won three district championships, three regional championships and one state championship. In her first three seasons playing, Goetz recorded 41 goals and 14 assists while being named Rookie of the Year in her freshman season. She spent the 2011-2018 seasons playing for Weston FC DA & ECNL while spending the last three seasons with FC Prime/Sunrise Prime ECNL.
Why Memphis for Goetz:
"I chose the University of Memphis because of the diverse & competitive atmosphere. I wanted to be a part of a team that possesses great teammates and human beings. Memphis has both of those."
 
Rebecca Stoeckmann | Midfielder | Hartford, Wisconsin | Hartford Union High School | Madison 56ers

Stoeckmann, a midfielder from Hartford, Wisconsin, comes to Memphis after playing her prep career at Hartford Union High School and lettering in soccer and basketball all four years. She was named First Team All-North Shore Conference, All-State and was named as the Daily News Player of the Year in the 2021 season. During her playing career at Hartford Union, Stoeckmann has recorded 32 goals and 25 assists. Stoeckmann has spent the last two seasons playing with Madison 56ers SC: 2004 Girls Red U17 and U18/19 recording 16 goals and 14 assists last season. Prior to that, she played with Hartford United Soccer Club U18-19 Girls Team (2019-2020) and with the U10-17 Boys Team (2012-2019). In 2018 Stoeckmann was selected to the Oshkosh United All-Stars Team that played in Donosti Cup, San Sebastian Spain where she was 1 of 3 Captains of the Team.

"I chose the University of Memphis because the school has an abundance of courses to choose from, including courses for my intended major. The education is affordable, the campus is urban, the soccer program has an amazing coaching staff who share the same competitive, gritty yet welcoming spirit with each one of their players. There is outstanding leadership and experience from the older players, a very high level of competition in the AAC, and a chance to be a part of one of the top 25 teams in the nation. The historic area along with the diverse university and warmer weather made it an easy decision to come to Memphis."
 
 
Sarah Bozeman | Goalkeeper | O'Fallon, Missouri | Fort Zumwalt South High School | St. Louis Scott Gallagher ECNL
 

Bozeman, a goalkeeper from O'Fallon, Mo., comes to Memphis after playing her prep career at Fort Zumwalt South High School where she lettered in soccer and track. She was part of a soccer team that won the GAC Championship, District, Sectional and State Championship in 2021 with a 22-2 overall record. Bozeman was also a member of the GAC 4x100m relay championship team, the 2ndplace GAC 4x200m relay, and 2nd place GAC 100m dash. Bozeman has spent the last five seasons with St. Louis Scott Gallagher where they placed 2nd at the Missouri State Cup in 2017, were named the 2018 ECNL Midwest Conference Champions and were the 2019 ECNL North American Cup Champions. She was also invited to ECNL PDP Midwest in 2018 and ECNL CSP Midwest in 2019.

Berlyn Dibble | Midfielder | Salt Lake City, Utah | Skyline High School | La Roca ECNL
 

 
Dibble, a midfielder/defender from Salt Lake City, Utah, comes to Memphis finishing her prep career at Skyline High School. While there, Dibble helped her team to a 2021 Utah State Championship, and scored the game-winning goal, after recording a 20-0 record and ranked top-10 in the country. She was named All-State in 2020 and was named an All-State Team Player in 2021. In her two seasons at Skyline, she recorded 11 goals and 23 assists. The past two seasons, Dibble has been a team captain with her La Roca ECNL team and recorded three goals and nine assists last season.

"I really enjoyed the coaching staff, campus, facilities, and players when I visited, and it just felt like it was a great fit for me."
"We've been able to establish ourselves as one of the top programs in the country - which means we have to continue to add top players to keep that standard," said Monaghan.
