Tigers Bow Out of American Athletic Conference Championship

TULSA, Okla. – The Memphis Tigers' 2021 season came to a close in the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship Wednesday night in Tulsa, Okla., after dropping a 6-0 decision to No. 2 seed UCF.

The third-seeded Tigers' season ends with a 6-9-2 record and a 5-4-1 mark in the AAC. Memphis started the season with a 1-6-1 record but rebounded down the stretch, going 5-2-1 to close the regular season and secure the third spot in the conference tournament.

Six Tigers picked up all-conference awards this season. Forward Maxi Galizzi and defender Artur De Luca were named All-AAC First Team, midfielder Toby McCallum was placed on the all-conference second team and Eric Primo, Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos and Colin Welsh were voted to the All-Rookie Team.

Galizzi finished the season with team highs in goals with nine and assists with four, giving him 22 points on the year. De Luca was right behind with four goals, three of which were of the game-winning variety including a memorable one against No. 10 SMU.
