Cross Country to Race in AAC Championships Friday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis harriers are set to compete in the 2021 American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Florida tomorrow morning. The men's 8K will begin at 7 a.m. (CT), and the women will follow in the 6k at 7:50.
The teams last competed in a conference championship this past February, when the 2020 shortened season and championships were postponed to early spring. Zachary Wyatt (24:42.17, ninth) and Payton Gleason (24:45.97, 11th) earned All-Conference recognition. The men's team placed fifth, and the women ninth.
"Both teams are heading into the championships eager and focused to run their best race of the season, regardless of the conditions," Assistant Cross Country Coach Ken Frenette said. "This is what they have been training for since the summer, so we're just waiting for the starting gun to fire."
