Galizzi, De Luca earn AAC Weekly Awards

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Thanks to their efforts in a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over No. 10 SMU Saturday night, Memphis' Maxi Galizzi and Artur De Luca earned their second-straight American Athletic Conference weekly honors.
Galizzi was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week, and De Luca earned his second-straight Defensive Player of the Week nod.
Galizzi scored twice in the match, once in the 27th minute and once in the final minutes of the contest to tie the game at 2. It was his second two-goal game of the season (Sept. 14 at Central Arkansas), and he now has nine points in the last three matches (three goals, three assists).
De Luca played all 99 minutes in the match, and he converted the game winner on a penalty kick to give the Tigers the victory.
The Tigers (4-6-1, 3-2-0 AAC), winners of three-straight, hit the road for two games, heading to South Florida Friday at 6 p.m. CT and Tulsa the Friday afterwards, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. Memphis' next home game is Wednesday, Oct. 27 against Temple at 7 p.m.
