MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The preseason accolades continued to roll in for Memphis women's soccer senior Clarissa Larisey after being named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday.
Presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, the MAC Hermann Trophy is regarded as the highest individual honor in college soccer. Semifinalists will be announced toward the end of spring competition. The field will then be narrowed down to three finalists, with the winner of the 2020-21 MAC Hermann Trophy announced in late May.
Larisey is one of 55 Division I student-athletes named to this season's Watch List and the lone representative from the American Athletic Conference.
"It's a great and well-deserved honor, not only for Clarissa but for our program," head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "At the same time, we play a team sport, so with any honor you get I always try to instill in our players that nothing can be achieved without your teammates. With each honor, it's a life lesson to remain humble and use this the right way moving forward."
Thursday's announcement marks the second straight season Larisey has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. She was named to the list ahead of the 2019 season along with alumna Serena Dolan. Larisey was also voted the AAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and named a Preseason All-Conference Team selection earlier this week.
The Ottawa, Ontario, native earned United Soccer Coaches All-America status after a breakout junior campaign in 2019. She registered a team-best 16 goals and four assists for 36 points as she was named The American's co-Offensive Player of the Year. Her 16 scores rank third-most in Memphis single-season history.
The Memphis forward tallied a pair of hat tricks during the 2019 slate, including three goals in a 2:31 span to seal a 4-0 shutout win against regional foe Mississippi State. During the 2019 conference season, Larisey recorded six goals and three assists to help Memphis claim the 2019 American Athletic Conference regular-season championship.
Throughout her career, Larisey has also claimed two United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors, two AAC First Team All-Conference accolades and was named to the All-AAC Rookie Team following her freshman season. In the classroom, Larisey also garnered United Soccer Coaches First Team Scholar All-America honors in 2019.
In three seasons, Larisey has amassed 31 goals and nine assists in 48 starts. Her 31 goals rank sixth in career history while her 71 points scored rank eighth all-time.
Larisey and the Tigers kick off the 2021 spring season against UAB on Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at Park Avenue Campus. Attendance to home matches this spring will be limited to player and staff guests.
