Sangha, Chang named to AAC Preseason All-Conference Team

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A pair of Memphis men's soccer student-athletes were named to the American Athletic Conference's Preseason All-Conference Team Monday, as the league office announced its annual preseason poll and honors.
Junior Gurman Sangha and sophomore Peter Chang landed on the AAC Preseason All-Conference Team, while Memphis was voted to finish tied for fourth in the league.
"It's an honor to be recognized to the Preseason All-Conference Team," head coach Richard Mulrooney said. "I think they feel the same way we as a staff do in that they are representing Memphis as two of those spots in our league named preseason. I'm happy for them. They earned it last year. I also know that those two guys along with the rest of our team are going to make sure we compete well this spring."
It marks Sangha's third league honor of his career and first preseason accolade. The Vancouver, British Columbia, native also garnered Second Team All-AAC recognition in 2019 and All-Rookie Team honors in 2018. The forward started 14 of 17 matches as a sophomore in fall 2019, logging three goals and four assists.
Chang seeks to build upon an impressive freshman campaign, which yielded AAC All-Rookie Team honors in 2019. The Parker, Colorado, native started all 17 matches in his first season in Blue and Gray, scoring three goals and three assists throughout the season.
"While it's an honor to make the preseason list, we know games aren't played on paper, they are played on the field," Mulrooney added. "I think those two along with the rest of our team and staff are going to be ready to work this spring and win some games and championships."
