MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis women's tennis program sets forth for the 2021 season, announcing a spring schedule which includes 21 regular season matches, including one home match and 20 road matches. The team will meet 16 non-conference opponents and six American Athletic Conference opponents.
"This year's schedule reflects an effort to play several more 'regional' opponents, while really testing our team," said Memphis head coach Hayden Perez. "We play over half of the Southeastern Conference teams and that will give us a great opportunity to play some of the best in the country. We look forward to the challenge and all that comes with it."
The Tigers will join Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Georgia Tech in the Bulldog Kickoff Jan. 16-18 to start the season.
Memphis will go on to face five SEC opponents, Kentucky (Jan. 22), Vanderbilt (Jan. 24), Mississippi State (Jan. 29), Ole Miss (Feb. 2) and Alabama (Feb. 5), before its first AAC matchup in Tulsa on Feb. 7.
Memphis then has seven consecutive non-conference matches on the road against Missouri (Feb. 12), Iowa State (Feb. 13), ETSU (Feb. 18), Tennessee (Feb. 19), Arkansas (Feb. 26), Lipscomb (March 5) and North Texas (March 8), scheduled prior to back-to-back trips to Texas for AAC competitions against SMU on March 9 and Houston on March 12. The Tigers will remain in Houston for an additional day for a match against Rice.
The Tigers then travel to Cincinnati on March 26 to take on the Bearcats followed by a match against Xavier on March 27.
Memphis finishes out the regular season with two AAC matches. First, against Tulane in New Orleans on April 9 followed by the seasons' lone home contest against Wichita State on April 11.
The AAC Championships will be held in Orlando, Fla. April 21-24.
All dates and match times are subject to change.
