MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's basketball team and head coach Melissa McFerrin announce the addition of transfer guard Maya Stovall from DePaul University Wednesday afternoon.
"We are excited to welcome Maya to the University of Memphis," said McFerrin. "She's a quick and aggressive point guard who is great in the open court, can create for herself and her teammates and takes pride in running a team. As a transfer from DePaul, she brings a wealth of high-level experience and a tough winning mentality."
While at DePaul, Stovall appeared in 59 games and had 14 starts. She averaged 2.25 points per game with one rebound and 1.41 assists. She recorded three double digit performances.
As a sophomore during the 2019-20 season, she played in 26 games averaging 11.7 minutes per game to help guide the Demon Devils to a 28-5 overall record. She scored a career-high 11 points against Georgetown in the Feb. 21 matchup.
As a freshman during the 2018-19 season, she played in 29 games with 14 starts. Stovall received BIG EAST Freshman of the Week recognition after her third start, where she finished with 10 points and nine rebounds against BIG EAST regular-season titlist Marquette. She followed that up with 10 points and three assists against Villanova. She also was named to the conference's All-Academic Team.
In high school, she was recognized as a Missouri All-Stater and Class Four Player of the Year. She averaged 20 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals. As a freshman she helped lead Parkway North to a third-place finish in the state of Missouri with a 22-6 record.
