Morse signs deal with Memphis 901 FC
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Former Memphis Tiger Jackson Morse has inked his first professional contract, staying in the Bluff City to play with Memphis 901 FC. He joins Raul Gonzalez, another former Memphis player, on 901 FC's roster.
"To be able to stay in the city and play for our professional team is a wonderful opportunity," Memphis head coach Richard Mulrooney said of Morse. "I know he will take full advantage of this, and I couldn't be happier for him."
As a Tiger, Morse scored nine career goals and registered three assists. An extremely versatile player, the Plano, Texas native was able to help the Tigers win games from various positions across the pitch, leading the Tigers in goals as a freshman forward before closing out his college career as a key defender.
Morse scored two goals as a senior, including one in the 80th minute in a road win over No. 3 SMU. From is defensive position, Morse led the Tigers to their first 10-win season since 2011. The success allowed Memphis to host its first American Athletic Conference Championship match.
His freshman season, Morse led the team in scoring, netting six goals in his first collegiate year. He was named the HERO Sports National Player of the Week after dropping a pair of goals against No. 25 UConn. His first-year production led Morse to be named to the 2016 AAC All-Rookie Team.
