Tigers finish action at Music City Challenge with three top-three finishes.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – University of Memphis' Calvin Austin III and Paris Perkins recorded top-three finishes Saturday to lead the Tigers in second-day action at Vanderbilt University's Music City Challenge. The meet was held at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.

Austin posted his second top-three performance of the weekend with a second-place finish in the men's 60 meters. Saturday's second-place finish tied his career-best performance in the indoor event. He also placed second in the 60 meters at the 2018 Don DeNoon Invitational. In Friday's action, Austin was third in the 200 meters.

Perkins placed third in the women's 400 meters in a personal-best time of 54.88 seconds. Her previous-best was 55.10 in the 2019-20 indoor season opener on Dec. 6.

The only other top-three finish was Anastasia Bampali, who placed second in the women's triple jump. It was Bampali's first collegiate meet.

Tigers Tidbits
- Sam Jones shattered his personal-best in the men's triple jump by 17 inches. It was the fourth-straight meet this season in which he set his personal-best in the event.
- Iason Machairas improved his personal-best in the men's shot put by 15 inches.
- Erin Gilbert improved her personal-best in the women's mile by nine seconds. It was the third-straight meet she ran a personal-best. Gilbert has shaved 17 seconds off her personal-best time the last three weeks.
- Christian Hill improved her personal-best by 2.5 inches in the women's triple jump. It was the second-consecutive meet she set a personal-best in the event.
- Other personal-bests set Saturday were: Emmanuel Cullins in the men's 800 meters; Peter Kostarellis in the men's mile; and Adam Yakobi in the men's 400 meters.
