Memphis is coming off of a tough loss at home against the Little Rock Trojans. In its season opener the Tigers fell 52-61, but a strong showing by several veterans displayed great potential for this squad.
Senior forward Alana Davis scored a team-high 20 points with six rebounds and one steal. For her career, she has scored 827 points with 523 rebounds.
Junior guard Jatyjia "Tye" Jones made her first start as a Tiger. The Jones College transfer was one of only three players to score in the double digits with 10 points while also standing out as one of the team's defensive leaders with seven rebounds and two steals.
A Look at Saint Louis
Saint Louis will see action for the first time this season after their original home opener against Mizzou was postponed. The Billikens welcome five newcomers, including four freshmen. Nine players return from last year's squad.
Three Billikens were selected for preseason Atlantic 10 Conference awards. Ciaja Harbison was voted All-Conference first team and All-Defensive team. Rachel Kent was picked All-Conference third team, and Brooke Flowers was named All-Defensive team.
Head coach Lisa Stone is entering her ninth season at the helm of the Billikens, her 35th overall. Her 644 career wins rank 18th among active Div. I women's basketball coaches.
Final Details
Tipoff against Saint Louis at Chaifetz Arena is set for 6 p.m. CT Friday. A live broadcast on ESPN+, audio stream on Memphis Tiger Network and stats via www.statbroadcast.com will all be available for Friday's game.
