Isaiah Jackson playing in PGA Tour event

JACKSON, Miss. -- University of Memphis senior golfer Isaiah Jackson is taking his game to another level this weekend: the PGA Tour.
Jackson will participate in the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi beginning Thursday at the Country Club of Jackson. The UofM All-American earned an exemption into the field as an amateur by winning the Mississippi Men's State Amateur in late June by four strokes. That event was played at nearby Annadale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi.
The first Memphis men's golfer to earn PING All-American honors in four years, Jackson was one of 30 golfers nationwide to earn honorable mention status. He also was one of only three American Athletic Conference golfers selected to either the first-, second- or third teams or honorable mention. SMU placed two golfers – Noah Goodwin and Mac Meissner – on the second team.
The All-America recognition followed Jackson being named to the 2020 PING All-Region Southeast team in April.
During the season, his second at the UofM, Jackson posted a school-record setting stroke average (70.0) and had seven Top 20 finishes in as many events.
ISAIAH JACKSON UPDATE: Jackson shot even-par 144 through the first two rounds and failed to make the cut. The field was trimmed after 36 holes to the top 45 players in the field (and ties), which were those golfers who shot 3-under 141 or better. Jackson opened with a 1-over 73 and shot 1-under 71 in the second round.
