Two Men's Soccer Players Earn Weekly Awards

Sam Ashton and Christoforos Kourtis named to Weekly Honor Roll
MEMPHIS, Tennessee – After a week of wins, the University of Memphis men's soccer team landed two student-athletes on the American Athletic Conference's weekly awards list. Senior forward Sam Ashton and junior midfielder Christoforos Kourtis were both named to the Weekly Honor Roll for their roles during the past week.
Ashton lands on the list after netting three goals and registering one assist, helping Memphis pick up a pair of wins. Against Saint Louis, Ashton bookended the scoring for the Tigers, giving them the first goal of the match before putting in the game-winner in the 68th minute. Opening conference play against Cincinnati, the Portsmouth, England native scored the game's opening score before assisting on the third and final goal of the match.
The honor roll nod is the third weekly award for Ashton this season. With eight total goals and two assists, Ashton leads the AAC in points with 18. Nationally, the forward's point total is tied for fifth in the NCAA. He also currently stands tied for fourth in the country and first in the conference with his eight goals and tied for second in the AAC with three game winners.
The Weekly Honor Roll nod is the first weekly award for Kourtis. He is also the seventh Tiger to claim a spot on the award list on the season.
The Larnaka, Cyprus native finds himself on the conference's list for the first time this season after a six-point week. He helped the Tigers defeat Saint Louis with a pair of assists on Memphis' first two goals before scoring two of his own against Cincinnati. The goals were his first of the year.
With tallies of two goals and three assists, Kourtis is seventh in the AAC in assists, while his seven total points are tied for tenth in the league.
