The Memphis Tigers
The Tigers enter the week after their last matchup resulted in a 2-0 victory over Belmont last Tuesday. Alexandros Ierides played the role of scorer in Nashville, Tenn., as the junior netted both goals in the win. The scores marked his first two goals of the season. For his efforts, he was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this season.
Not to be outshined, the Memphis defense played an excellent game against Belmont as well. The Tiger defense held the hosting Bruins to just two shots on the night, neither of which was on target. It was the second time this season that goalkeeper Parker Lackland was not required to make a save in a shutout victory.
Now including Ierides, four Tigers have registered multiple goals on the season, led by Sam Ashton's five. Ashton's five goals rank tied for 18th in the country. So far this year, Memphis is outscoring opponents 13-8 on the young season and have outshot opponents by a count of 69-48.
A Look at the Billikens
Saint Louis visits the Tigers winners of three straight, having most recently opened conference play with a 1-0 win at Davidson. Ben Huels captured the win after scoring in the 49th minute of the match.
Like the Tigers, the Billikens have found goals from multiple sources this season. Counting Huels, Saint Louis has five players with a goal this season. Leo Novaes leads the way with a pair of scores.
Saint Louis has played two American Athletic Conference teams prior to its match against Memphis, having fallen at SMU before rebounding against the conference and beating Tulsa on Sept. 17.
