MEMPHIS, Tenn. – No. 20/18 Memphis women's soccer capped its first road trip of the season with a 1-0 victory against the Omaha Mavericks on Sunday afternoon.
Although the Tigers sustained pressure in the attacking zone throughout the day, senior Serena Dolan's goal in the 32nd minute of play was all the offense needed to secure the win.
"It wasn't the prettiest of performances. We weren't as sharp as we have been the first three games. Credit to Omaha, they made it difficult," head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "Winning isn't easy and we found a way to win today."
In goal, junior Elizabeth Moberg tallied her first solo shutout of the season, facing four shots throughout the day.
Memphis outshot the Mavericks by a 14-4 margin and earned seven corner kicks to Omaha's two.
"Conditions were a little different here. Playing on turf changes the game a bit," Monaghan added. "We did enough to win the game, but we know as a group we must learn from several things in this game to get better moving forward."
Memphis will return home for its match on Friday against North Texas. Kickoff against the Mean Green from Park Avenue Campus is set for 7 p.m.
