Trio of Women’s Golfers Earn WGCA All-American Scholar Status

Colwill earns fourth career honor.
MEMPHIS, Tennessee – A trio of University of Memphis women's golfers were named Golf Coaches of America (WGCA) All-American Scholars. The minimum GPA for a student-athlete is a 3.50. The trio of Sydney Colwill, Victoria Gallegos and Abigail Herrmann were named to the list of 1,097 women's college golfers who received the honor this past season.
This was the fourth honor for Colwill, who graduated from the University of Memphis in May and who is currently preparing for the beginning of her professional golf career and LPGA Q-school. The finance major was an American Athletic Conference All-Conference honoree as a junior and finished with 13 top 20 finishes in 37 career events. The Tucson, Arizona native posted six career top five finished and a pair of individual medalist honors, including a win in the season-opening Payne Stewart Memorial in her senior season. She is just the eighth women's golfer in program history to earn four WGCA All-American Scholar honors.
This is the second consecutive honor for Herrmann. The rising senior has posted five top 20 career finishes in 23 events, including individual medalist honors as a sophomore. She shaved nearly a stroke off her scoring average from her sophomore to junior seasons, averaging a 75.8 over eight events this past year. She is the lone senior on the Lady Tigers' 2019-20 roster.
Gallegos, a native of Saltillo Coahuila, Mexico, earned her first career academic honor from the WGCA. In her first season of college golf, she qualified for seven events and posted one top 20 finish.
