MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Forrest Goodman, a long-time member of the Memphis Tiger Radio Network team and a veteran of nearly 30 years in radio, died Monday night after battling multiple health issues.
"For many members of the Tiger family, Forrest Goodman has been the voice of the Memphis fans, before and after the game," Interim Athletics Director Allie Prescott said. "Our Tiger family offers its condolences to his family. He was well-regarded and will be deeply missed."
A 1989 graduate of Collierville High School, Goodman, 48, joined the Memphis Tiger Radio Network in 1999, serving as the pregame and postgame host for various game broadcasts, including Tiger football and men's basketball. Goodman also served as a host for coaches shows for John Calipari, Justin Fuente, Mike Norvell, Josh Pastner, Larry Porter, Tubby Smith and Tommy West.
Before joining the Memphis Tiger family, Goodman spent 10 years handling high school football play-by-play and also served as play-by-play voice for all Delta State University sports.
He was a fixture in the Memphis radio market and spent time at The Commercial Appeal as a Digital Strategist, a job that included producing the online website's podcasts.
His roles in the Memphis market included serving as program director for iHeartMedia and morning show host for News-Talk FM 98.9. He also spent more than seven years as program director Clear Channel Radio and co-hosted a daily morning drive news magazine program.
Goodman is survived by his wife, Michelle, and their daughter, Abigail.
