Tigers' senior earns spot on the Ping All-Region team
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Memphis golfer Bradley Bawden was named to the Division I Ping All-Region Southeast Team, completing a remarkable senior season for the Hockley, England native.
Â
Bawden helped the Tigers to a berth in the NCAA Athens Regional and narrowly missed advancing to the NCAA Championships as an individual. Bawden's three-round total of 2-under 211 was one shot more than Nevada's Stephen Osborne, who claimed the only individual at-large berth available.
Â
Bawden also was instrumental in the Tigers claiming their first American Athletic Conference championship title, which automatically qualified the UofM for the NCAA regional appearance.
Â
Memphis earned its spot – its first trip to the regionals since 2016 – by claiming a 12-stroke victory in last month's conference championship at Palm Harbor, Fla. Bawden paced the Tigers with a 54-hole total of 5-under 208. At the NCAA regional, the Tigers finished eighth. The top five teams advanced to the NCAA Championships.
Â
Bawden had seven Top 20 finishes this season and won an individual title at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in late February. For his efforts, Bawden was named earlier this month to the AAC All-Conference team, joining teammate Chase Harris.
