MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis men's tennis freshmen duo Oscar Cutting and David Stevenson were named to The American's All-Conference doubles team, the league office announced Thursday.
Consistently ranked throughout the season, the tandem checked in at No. 78 in the May 1 Oracle/ITA rankings. Cutting and Stevenson, who primarily played at the No. 1 position, capped the 2018-19 season with a 14-12 overall record and a 10-11 mark in dual-match play. The duo also posted a 5-2 ledger in league contests throughout the spring season.
Thursday's honor marks the second straight season Memphis has been represented on the league's All-Conference doubles team. Duo Ryan Peniston and Andrew Watson were listed to last year's team ahead of their All-American run.
During a stretch of facing top-35 foes in four of six matches, the Cutting and Stevenson were ranked as high as No. 30 in the Mar. 19 Oracle/ITA poll.
The Englishmen played 10 ranked doubles opponents throughout the dual-match season, winning four of those contests. The Tiger pair turned in two top-30 wins against LSU's No. 30 duo of Rafael Wagner and Joey Thomas on Feb. 10 before defeating Oklahoma State's No. 22 Mathieu Scaglia and Maxim Tybar on Mar. 9.
