UofM Holds Early Graduation For Student-Athletes

Fourteen baseball and softball players recognized during the early graduation
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For 14 baseball and softball student-athletes, the University of Memphis held a special early graduation Monday evening in the University Center Theater. This is the third-straight year the UofM has honored student-athletes unable to walk across the stage in May due to athletic commitments.
Â
The early graduate ceremony – an event put together by the University's commencement office, the Center for Athletic Academic Services (CAAS) and the Memphis athletics department – was only for those student-athletes whose athletic competition directly conflicted with the University's regular graduation ceremony.
Â
Fourteen student-athletes had a true commencement experience, from marching in, to walking across the stage. They shook the hand of Director of Athletics Tom Bowen and turned their tassels. With many years devoted to the University of Memphis, these student-athletes got the recognition they widely deserved.
Â
Commencement for the remainder of the graduating students will take place on May 4 at FedExForum.
