Men's Soccer Drops Regular Season Finale to USF

Tigers claim 4-seed in AAC Championship
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After celebrating the accomplishments of the senior class, the men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 final to USF Tuesday night at Park Avenue Campus.
Despite a late goal by Peter Chang and a flurry of offense in the final 10 minutes, the Tigers came up short in the final regular season match.
Memphis began the match controlling possession for the first 15 minutes, building drives down the field. The Tigers would find two shots early, but were unable to finish the opportunities.
USF opened the scoring, putting home a goal in the 20th minute. The 1-0 score would hold until halftime.
Having gained confidence in the first half, the Bulls opened the second half with another goal to add to the lead.
Though Memphis would take the next four shots, the Tigers struggled to finish looks, unable to find a lucky bounce or roll to help cut the lead.
Down 3-0 in the waning minutes of the contest, Chang was on the receiving end of a combination pass, finishing the score to put the Tigers on the board.
With new life, the Tigers rallied around one another, forcing the issue down the field, searching for another. The USF defense, however, would keep Memphis from getting clean looks, staving off the offensive intensity until the final whistle.
After the other results around the league, Memphis earned the No. 4 seed in the American Athletic Conference Championship. As a result, Memphis will host the Temple Owls on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. CT. at the Park Avenue Campus.
