Tigers make eighth NCAA Tournament

Washington State is first-round opponent at 7 p.m. Friday in Pullman, Wash.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – For the eighth time in program history, Memphis women's soccer heard its name called for an NCAA Tournament bid on Monday afternoon.
The No. 8/12 Tigers (17-2-1) will travel to No. 24/RV Washington State (12-6-1) for the first round. Action from Lower Soccer Field in Pullman is set for Friday at 7 p.m. (CT).
Memphis, which has also made the NCAA Tournament in three of its last four seasons, finished the regular season as American Athletic Conference champions.
The Tigers posted their second-best regular season mark in program history, going 16-1-1 throughout 2019. Memphis entered last week's AAC Tournament ranked No. 8 in both the United Soccer Coaches and TopDrawerSoccer poll, while holding a No. 26 ranking in the NCAA RPI.
Washington State closed its 2019 home slate with a pair of wins against Utah and Colorado before dropping its regular-season finale at Washington. The Cougars checked in at No. 24 in last week's United Soccer Coaches poll and were receiving votes in the TopDrawerSoccer poll. WSU stands at No. 27 in the NCAA RPI.
The Tigers and Cougars will meet for the first time in each program's history on Friday.
