MEMPHIS, Tenn. —The University of Memphis and the City of Memphis have again created another partnership for the good of the Memphis community.
"The UofM did a fantastic job with the repainting of this basketball court," Mayor Jim Strickland said. "Our parks serve as a cornerstone for neighborhoods, and the new paint job gives park patrons another asset to be proud of. I'm grateful to the UofM for their partnership and looking forward to more projects like this in the future."
The University of Memphis recently completed painting a public outdoor basketball court in Tigers blue and gray. Lewis-Davis Park, located off of Pendleton Street in Orange Mound, becomes the first court to be repainted by the UofM.
"This is an exciting time to be a Tiger and a proud new member of the Memphis community," said Memphis Athletic Director Laird Veatch. "This is a wonderful example of how a University and a City can work together for the good of the entire community."
Memphis plans to repaint a community court annually in an effort to impactfully improve area parks and courts.
