Men's Soccer Lands Two on Weekly Award List

Sam Ashton and Parker Lackland receive Honor Roll nods

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – After a 1-1 week of action that saw Memphis clinch a berth in the American Athletic Conference Championship, two men's soccer players were named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll for their efforts this week.

Returning after missing two games because of injury, Sam Ashton was awarded his fourth weekly award of the season after knocking in the game-winner against Tulsa on Sunday. The score marked his 10^th of the season, making the Portsmouth, England native the first Tiger to score 10 goals in a season since Mark Sherrod did so in 2012.

Also returning after missing time from injury, Parker Lackland was named to his first Honor Roll of the season after his performance against Tulsa. The sophomore goalkeeper faced down 17 shots, seven of which were on goal, recording a season-high six saves. Lackland's performance allowed the Tigers to clinch the 2-1 overtime win.

Lackland becomes the 12^th Tiger to receive a weekly award from the AAC. At least one Memphis player has received an award in every weekly award release this season.

Memphis heads to Orlando, Fla., for its final road match of the regular season, taking on UCF in a battle for first-place in the conference standings.
