Six advance in ITA Regional Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A rain-soaked second day of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships didn't slow the Memphis men's tennis team as the Tigers continued a strong outing in the tournament.
Five Tigers advanced to the Round of 32 in the singles main draw, while Memphis tandem Oscar Cutting and David Stevenson secured a trip to the quarterfinal round of doubles.
In singles, all five of Memphis' wins came in straight-set fashion. Cutting continued his strong play with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Juan Lugo of ETSU, while Jan Pallares won a second-set tiebreak to defeat Tomasz Dudek of Purdue.
After knocking off the draw's No. 11 seed on Thursday, Sydow collected a 7-6, 6-4 win against ETSU's Dylan Bednarczyk. Jeremy Taylor and James Story also advanced behind wins against Chattanooga's Kerim Hyatt and Alex Westbrooks of Louisville, respectively.
In doubles play, Cutting and Stevenson turned in an 8-5 win against the Louisville duo of Westbrooks and Tin Chen to advance to the quarterfinals.
