The Memphis Tigers
Memphis looks to rebound after having its six-match winning streak snapped against Temple. Despite scoring the first goal of the match, courtesy of Ford Hunt's first collegiate score, the Tigers fell in the second overtime period, dropping the 2-1 decision.
Despite the loss, Memphis received 14 votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll for the second consecutive week, appearing in consecutive polls for the first time since 2013.
The Tigers are led offensively by Sam Ashton, who tops the roster with nine goals. Ashton's nine scores are tied for second in the AAC and tied for 11th in the country. Memphis is currently on a four-match road winning streak, which ties a program record.
A Look at the Mustangs
The Mustangs host the Tigers after defeating USF 3-0 in their last appearance. The clean sheet against the Bulls was the seventh of the season for SMU, who has allowed only six goals.
SMU is one of seven Division I teams that remain unbeaten, currently holding a 10-0-1 record. The lone draw of the season for the Mustangs came against conference opponent UCF, where the teams played to a 3-3 draw in Orlando, Fla., earlier this month.
The team is led by Garrett McLaughlin, who has nine goals on the season. His 21 points are tied for second in the conference. On the other side of the ball, the Mustang goalkeeping has been split between Grant Makela and Shane Lanson. Combined, the two have allowed six total goals and recorded 37 saves, holding a 0.53 goals allowed average.
