Tiger men's golf kicks off 2018-19 fundraising campaign
Aug 01, 2018 | Men's Golf
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The University of Memphis men's golf program is kicking off its 2018-19 fundraising campaign. The campaign seeks donations to enhance facility upgrades, fund capital projects and supplement the budget.
Tigers coach Blake Smart is beginning his fifth season at the UofM. Last spring, he led the Tigers to a fourth-place finish at the 2018 AAC Championship at Innisbrook. Memphis made an impressive recovery after opening with an 18-over 302. During the following two rounds, the Tigers shot 1-over -- including a 2-under 282 on the final day -- to move into the upper half of the field.
Smart has said "funding from private supporters is crucial for bringing in talented student-athletes and providing them with the resources necessary to compete at the highest level."
There are several funding levels to choose from ranging from Level 1 (Patron - $100) to Level 4 (Founder - $5,000 and above). Each level includes a team newsletter, while Levels 2 through 4 also feature exclusive team clothing and gear.
Gifts to the program will be use to make improvements to the Frank L. Flautt Golf Center and outdoor practice area, in addition to funding major projects undertaken by the golf program and boosting recruiting and travel budgets.Â
