Vaughn Breaks Own School Record In Discus Saturday

Vallery posts top-three finishes in shot put, discus this weekend.
TORRANCE, Calif. – University of Memphis' Luke Vaughn broke his own school record in the men's discus to lead the Tigers at the Mt. SAC Relays Saturday.
Vaughn's mark of 204-0 (62.18m) improved his own school record by nearly four feet. He first set the program mark two weeks ago at the Crimson Tide Invitational. His 200-2 (61.01m) throw that day broke a 15-year-old record (199-8/60.85m by Gaute Myklebust in 2003).
The Tigers graduate student won shot put and discus titles at the Mt. SAC Relays this weekend, marking the second time this season he's won both crowns at the same meet. He also took first place in both events at the 2018 season-opening Rhodes College Invitational.
Rafael Vallery placed third in Saturday's discus. He had a throw of 184-6 (56.24m). Vallery was second in Friday's shot put. It is the third time this season – and second week in a row – he placed in the top-three in both events.
